best bmx bikes review 2018

Type of Bike

There is not just one kind of BMX bike you can buy; in fact, you should know exactly what kind of riding you wish to do so you can select that specific type of BMX bike.

There are Freestyle BMX bikes, Ramp BMX bikes, flatland BMX bikes, Racing BMX bikes, and Street BMX bikes. Out of these, beginners usually go for Freestyle bikes and Street bikes. The hardest to control and most professional bikes are the flatland bikes

Material Used

The best material that a BMX bike can be made out of is Chromoly. Chromoly is a lightweight alloy which makes performing stunts and riding fast really easy. BMX bikes are also made of steel but this makes them heavier and decreases their durability. Lightweight Freestyle BMX bikes, on the other hand, have superior control and are perfect for beginners.

Bearings

Look at the details of the bike and make sure that they mention sealed bearings. Unsealed bearings deteriorate your riding experience.

Size

The size of the bike you choose is very important. Make sure you know what frame size will fit you since it is difficult for people who are taller than 6 ft. to adjust to bikes that are made 5 ft. tall people. There are many different sizes available so make sure you get the right one.

Manufacturer

There are a few well-reputed names out there which can qualify as the Best BMX bike brands. For the most part, you cannot go wrong with manufacturers that are talked about a lot. If you are buying a BMX bike from an obscure brand, make sure you inspect it thoroughly.

Budget

You should also keep in mind that the BMX bike you have in mind should not exceed your budget. For casual riding purposes, a BMX freestyle bike for cheap is good enough. While expensive bikes are usually unbeatable when it comes to quality, sometimes you can find a cheap BMX bike can also come to par with it.

Visuals

We believe that the simplest BMX bikes are usually the best choice. Even though there are not many “ugly” bikes out there, you should consider all the other factors we have mentioned before how the bike looks.

Where Can I Get The Best BMX Bikes?

You can get BMX bikes for cheap on Amazon. They will be delivered right to your doorstep and most manufacturers also have return policies and warranties, in case the product doesn’t agree with you.

Other than that, you can check Walmart for BMX bikes, and also hit any other local bike shop. BMX bikes are so common, you can easily find them anywhere.

What Kind of Bikes Will We Be Reviewing?

We will mostly be reviewing cheap BMX freestyle bikes. They are all great for street riding and perfect for all kinds of children. We will not be reviewing adult bikes so if you are looking for the best adult BMX bikes, you will not have much luck here. We will mostly be focusing on the cheaper BMX bikes.

Hoffman Cirrus Boy's BMX Bike Silver2Assembling this bike was very easy for us; granted though, that we are fairly experienced in the area. We believe that it was an easy enough bike to assemble for beginners as well, but you should always seek assistance if it’s getting too difficult.

We made the children ride this bike and they absolutely loved it. It was smooth and absolutely perfect for street riding. It was safe enough as well so weren’t too worried about any mishaps happening.

This bike looks very high end. It is a quality bike and your children will not feel inferior to any other riders around the block if they keep going on this bike.

We did not like the brakes on this bike too much. They seemed cheap and would get stuck or come loose without warning. This is probably the worst thing about this bike.

It is also very heavy. Some children might take a while to take it up to full speed.

This BMX bike is very cheap and provides very good value for money.

What we Liked

X-Games FS20 Freestyle BicyclebFor this bike, we can safely say that your best bet is a professional assembly. Take it to a mechanic or your local bike shop so they can do a good job. It might set you back a couple of bucks but it will save you a lot of trouble.

This bike also provides a very smooth ride. It is really easy to maneuver and take control of. You can do a lot of tricks and stunts on this bike as well. It is also great for street riding and works great as a Freestyle BMX bike.

This bike too, unfortunately, has really disappointing brakes. Braking is difficult and this is why the brakes are mostly redundant.

According to the children, the seat is quite uncomfortable. You might want to invest in a separate cushion to make it easier to sit on.

This bike is also really heavy and can be a bit difficult for smaller children to control.

The handlebars are great, with a solid grip so stunts and tricks can be performed safely.

Mongoose Boy's Legion Mag BicyclebAssembling this BMX bike was a piece of cake. Any beginner can easily build it up with no trouble. You should still ask for help if you cannot figure something out, though.

This bike offers a really smooth ride through roads and streets. This makes it a really good bike for street riding.

The brakes on this bike are really stiff. We were really not impressed by this. Maybe your kid can break into the brakes after a little constant use. But this was still quite disappointing.

The handlebars on this bike also tend to come loose. This is quite agitating as well since the handlebars are necessary for performing stunts and for a secure ride. Naturally, this means that this bike is not great for performing stunts.

It is also really heavy and can be difficult for a child to control and maneuver.

Even so, it is really durable and can be easily handed down to other children.

This bike is really cheap and offers decent value for money.

This bike is also quite easy to assemble for most people. There is a problem in the assembly though, the fork is too small for the wheel. You might have to ask for professional help here, especially if you are a beginner.

The brakes on this bike are quite good. It is probably the only BMX bike in this article with sound brakes.

You cannot install training wheels on this BMX bike so make sure your kid can ride two wheels if you are looking to buy this bike.
